Sun, Salt & Stillness at Tower23 Hotel

If you’re looking for the kind of weekend getaway where you can fully switch off, sleep with the balcony doors open, and spend most of your time in a bikini with salty hair—Tower 23 is exactly that.

Set right on the sand in Pacific Beach, this hotel has that perfect mix of elevated and relaxed. It feels luxe and thoughtfully designed, but still easy and unfussy in a way that makes you settle in immediately.

From the moment we arrived, the whole stay just felt effortless.

The Room

Our room overlooked the ocean, and honestly… that alone would have sold me.

Waking up to the sound of waves, drinking coffee with the balcony doors open, and having that much natural light pouring in made the whole room feel so peaceful. The design was clean and modern with soft coastal touches—nothing overdone, just really beautifully done.

One of my favourite things about staying here is that you really don’t need to over-plan anything.

We spent the mornings cycling along the boardwalk, took the hotel’s complimentary beach cruisers out and basically let the day unfold from there. We stopped off at a few places along the boardwalk for coffee and some light bites, before heading back for lunch at JRDN, located right on the first floor of the hotel.

We had planned to go up to La Jolla to try kayaking in the 7 Caves, but due to the tides our plans have to be changed.

Tower 23’s restaurant, JRDN, is DEF worth mentioning because it made staying in for dinner very easy.

It sits right on the water, so the sunset views are unreal, and the whole atmosphere feels very coastal chic.

Amazing menu that caters for everyone no matter your dietary restrictions.

Dinner | Sunday-Thursday 5pm-8pm, Friday & Saturday 5pm-9pm

Brunch | Saturday & Sunday 9am-5pm

Happy Hour | Monday-Friday 3pm-5pm - not available on holidays 

Final Thoughts

Tower 23 is perfect if you want a beach escape that feels elevated but still relaxed. Whether you’re going solo or with friends. It’s stylish, right on the sand, and has that rare ability to make doing absolutely nothing feel like the best possible use of your time.
