The stay at liberty farms

A Weekend in Nature with All the Comforts

Glamping - the middle ground between camping and a boutique hotel, and The Stay at Liberty Farms nailed it.

Only two hours from NYC by train, The Stay at Liberty Farms feels like another world , one where you swap subway noise for open fields, and your “commute” is a short walk from your tent to a breakfast spread at The Nest.

Day 1 – Friday, June 20

Tent #3 - The Hawk

“the one with the best views”

Each tent had a little “porch” with chairs and lighting.

Hanna greeted us in the parking lot ready to whisk us and our bags away to Tent #3 — proudly claimed as “the one with the best views.” From its deck, you could see the beautiful mountains and overlooking the whole camping grounds. We had arrived a little earlier than expected, so we spent the morning relazing and settling in after the early morning train ride from the city.

By 5 PM, we were at The Nest for Happy Hour cocktails and mocktails. A spread of charcuterie, cookies, fruit, chocolate, popcorn, and pretzels to kick start our evening before heading out to the nearest town (Ghent) where we enjoyed a light bite and live music with the locals at Chatham Brewery.

Day 2 – Saturday, June 21

After my regular morning walk I headed over to The Nest where they’d served up bagels, pastries, fruit, yogurt, orange juice, and coffee which is available between 8 and 10 AM. Simple, but exactly what you want before a day outdoors.

At 10:30 AM, Frankie gave us the full farm tour. We met the animals, walked the grounds, and got a little glimpse of what farm life is really like (spoiler: the goats have big personalities).

That afternoon at 3:30 PM, we headed to the Equestrian Center for horseback riding with Cameron. You can walk there in about 10 minutes or hop in a golf cart, but either way - wear close-toed shoes. The ride was peaceful and gave us a whole new view of the property.

Around 5 PM we were headed The Nest again (we were regulars at this point) -signature drinks, charcuterie and desserts, lawn games, and the firepit glowing for s’mores but not before trying our hand at bbq-ing. We met the owner, Mark Cheffo, who clearly puts his heart into every detail of the place.

Day 3 – Sunday, June 22

We made the most of our last morning with another breakfast at The Nest and a slow coffee before packing up. Checkout was at 11 AM, but honestly, it felt way too soon.

Final Thoughts

The Stay at Liberty Farms is perfect if you want nature without the “roughing it” part. The perfect reset! You get fresh air, good food, and plenty to do — but also a soft bed, hot shower, and a community vibe. Bring comfy clothes, your appetite, and if you can, grab Tent #3.
